Tell me a bit about yourself before you became a mother, and how did you change after becoming a mother?
I grew up in a family that thought me to be a responsible person in general, so I was quite independent and ready for a family. But before becoming a mother I was never too much of a person who liked playing with children. After having my own, oh how much more responsible and loving did I become .
You never know how much you can love until you have a child
What does your absolute dream version of motherhood look like?
I think I am currently living my dream motherhood, as after my adorable three boys I got my little, sweet, perfect girl.
One virtue, as a mother, that I am still learning to master is patience. But practice makes better, and I get a lot of practice over here.
What societal or cultural messages about motherhood frustrate you and how would you like to see them changed?
I am lucky enough to have never experienced any societal messages to frustrate or bother me. But one way that I believe society can support mothers is by letting moms be moms and only give them ‘advice’ when they ask for it rather than always telling them what and how they should do.
What do you do well? What’s really works for you? Do you have a secret? Your mom super power?
It’s amazing to be a mother, I think for many of us motherhood is a dream coming true, a vocation chosen. I even wear my ‘Mama’ name on my cups, shirts and social media accounts, just like a badge of honor . So the secret is love . I do It all with love and kindness (two words that remind me of my grandma).
How do you take care of yourself? How do you deal with mom guilt?
Self care is crucial for my sanity and for my happiness. And if I’m happy, everybody around me is! Some days I go for a many-pedy, others I wake up a little earlier and put on some makeup, or others I go shopping . Some days just taking a shower feels amazing . But no matter what it is I try to have a positive mindset.
I do have a lot of mom guilt, like any person that is aspiring to a better version of themselves . So one way of I deal with it is to acknowledge that it’s normal to have some and every morning before getting out of bed I pray and get on a positive vibe .
What’s a topic related to motherhood, or life after becoming a mother, that you wish we talked about more?
Breastfeeding! I feel like even before becoming a mother , people and doctors talked to me about all the aspects of motherhood and gave me advice, but never did they got me ready for breastfeeding. And maybe it’s because nobody wants to put any pressure on moms to breastfeed . But I truly believe that if this matter would be discussed more and would get more attention, many more mothers would learn how to breastfeed and it would be such a struggle and stressful thing.
