A Love Letter To The Dads ...
This year on Father's Day the boys and I were en route to Poland. My husband had to work late that day and as a result we didn't get to spend this special day together. Luckily, the Polish Father's Day has a fixed date and falls on June 23rd every year. Though we're still apart (he's working in LA while we're spending a couple of weeks in Europe with my family), I had some time to sit down and write a few words to my husband and the best partner a girl could ask for on this wild parenting journey. "A Love Letter To The Dads ..." is a heartfelt note to all the amazing fathers and father figures out there, including our Tata (which is the way our boys call Jose and it literally means "dad" in Polish). Happy (Polish) Father's Day!
__________
My Dearest Jose (aka the best Tata in the world),
I find myself filled with gratitude and love as I sit down to write this letter to you. The last decade as parents has been a journey, hasn't it? From the moment our little ones entered this world, our lives changed in ways we never fully anticipated. There have been countless sleepless nights, moments of doubt, and times of overwhelming exhaustion, yet through it all, you have been my steadfast rock.
I remember those nights when the pain from stitches and cracked nipples, and sleep exhaustion felt unbearable. You were there, holding my hand, even when you didn't know exactly how to help. Your presence alone provided a comfort that words cannot fully capture. You have seen me at my lowest, and instead of turning away, you chose to stand by my side. Your unwavering support during those challenging times made all the difference. Was it easy? No. But every time you chose me and our boys.
Our relationship has taken a back seat as we navigated the complexities of raising our young family. There were times when we were not as kind to each other as we should have been, moments of frustration and misunderstandings. Yet, despite the hardships and the stress, you always chose me and our family. Your commitment to us never wavered, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, especially when I was struggling. Thank you for the late-night runs to the store, for brining me my water bottle in the middle of the night, for soothing our baby when I was too exhausted to move, and for the countless other acts of love and support that often go unnoticed. You have been an incredible partner and father, showing our child what it means to be loving, selfless, supportive, and kind.
In the midst of all the challenges, there have been beautiful moments that I will cherish forever. The look in your eyes as you held our baby Julian for the first time, the joy in your laughter during those rare moments of peace, and the strength of your embrace when I needed it most. These moments remind me of why I fell in love with you and why I continue to love you more each day.
As we continue this wild journey together, I want you to know how much I appreciate you. I know I don’t say it often enough, but I want you to know that your love and support have been my lifeline, and I am so grateful to have you by my side. Together, we have faced the highs and lows, and I believe that our love and commitment to each other and our family will carry us through anything. Happy (Polish) Father’s Day to the best Tata in the world!
With all my love,
Magda
