4 Effortless And Chic Ways To Wear Your #LBD This Fall (And Winter)

4 Effortless And Chic Ways To Wear Your #LBD This Fall (And Winter)

So, Chicago decided to skip fall and head straight into winter. But that’s nothing unusual for those of us who had lived in the Midwest for a while, am I right? It’s leather jackets and bare ankles on Monday, and puffer jackets and snow boots on Tuesday. If you’re a breastfeeding or pumping mama, figuring out how to dress in layers, stay warm, and be able to nurse or pump on the go can get tricky without spending a fortune on breastfeeding-friendly apparel.

I put together four effortless, chic, and affordable ways to wear your little black breastfeeding dress this fall and winter. And yes, these looks include wearing tights! Because let’s be honest … people who live real lives in the Midwest will tell you that tights (especially the fleece-lined type!) are probably one of the most worn accessory during the colder months in this part of the globe. (Though Pinterest will have you believe we are all so acclimated to the freezing temperatures, we don’t believe in tights.) The best thing about the looks I created? You probably already have most of the items in your closet (well, maybe with the exception of black gold studded tights).

If you’re a pregnant or nursing mama, I hope this post will provide inspiration and tips on how to quickly get dressed in the morning without thinking twice about whether your outfit is breastfeeding or pumping friendly. And if you’re not in either of these motherhood seasons, you can easily apply my quick styling tips to any black dress. Because a little black (breastfeeding) dress is a wonderful and very necessary item in every mom’s closet.

If you still needed convincing that the #LBBD will be the most versatile piece in your wardrobe (and one on heavy rotation), scroll down to see how I’ve styled it. Don’t forget that all of the looks are boob and bump friendly (though you’d never know).

4 WAYS TO STYLE YOUR LITTLE BLACK BREASTFEEDING DRESS (OR ANY LITTLE BLACK DRESS, REALLY)

  1. WITH BLACK WRAP COAT AND SNAKE PRINT BOOTIES (aka TOTAL MOM BOSS LOOK)

Coat: HM (one of my favorite timeless and budget-friendly gem finds of the season). I’m also obsessed with this one from Massimo Dutti (hint to my husband: it’s on my Christmas wish list). Boots: last season ZARA and one of the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn (I also found these that look almost identical). Even though they have a bit of a heel, I’ve walked miles in them (while of course pushing a stroller). They are the perfect city mom boots. If you want to add just a bit of snake print to your otherwise neutral and minimalistic wardrobe, a pair of boots make for a subtle yet impactful accessory. Dress: MLM Brand

2. WITH A CLASSIC TRENCH COAT (aka WHO RUNS THE WORLD? MOMS! LOOK)

Coat: Reserved (super versatile and stylish) — mine is is sold out but this one from Mango and this one are also great if you’re looking to add a classy trench coat to your capsule wardrobe. LBBD: MLM Brand, Tights: Malka Chic (designed in Chicago, made in Italy!), Boots: Nine West (a few seasons old)

3. WITH A LONG GRAY UNISEX COAT AND BLACK LOW HEELED BOOTS (aka READY TO MOTHER LOOK)

Coat: A few season old but ZARA has one under $50 right now! Sweater: Everlane LBBD: MLM Brand , Tights: Malka Chic, Boots: Everlane, Earrings: Coco Peach Jewelry (Jessica is one of my fav jewelry designers in Chicago!)

4. WITH BLACK GOLD STUDDED TIGHTS (aka TIGHTS DON’T HAVE TO BE BORING LOOK)

Coat: HM (linked above), Sweater: HM (and it’s on sale for $8.99, you guys), LBBD: MLM Brand, Tights: Malka Chic, Boots: Nine West

What are your favorite ways to style a little black (breastfeeding) dress?
